Your Nursery Room Furniture

When it comes to your nursery furniture and baby essentials, Art Van has you covered. In addition to a crib, changing table and storage furniture for the nursery room, you’ll need a car seat and stroller for when you and baby are out on the town. Our nursery furniture is available in a variety of styles and colors, giving you many options for designing a nursery that you and baby will enjoy.

Buying Guide

Decorating a nursery for your newborn’s arrival is among the many joys of being a parent but it can prove to be a daunting task for first-time moms and dads. Keeping a few tips in mind as you design your nursery will make this task an enjoyable experience. As you buy furniture for the nursery, keep in mind the size of the room and try to avoid cluttering the space or adding furniture that is too large. The nursery should be a fun, relaxing space for you and baby. Items like your new crib, changing table and nursery chair should also be placed relatively close to each other. This allows you to easily take only a couple of steps to pick up baby from the crib, change her diaper and relax with her on the nursery chair.

In addition to the crib, you’ll need a comfortable crib mattress, a waterproof mattress protector and some crib bedding for baby. The bedding gives you the opportunity to add your favorite style to the nursery by bring color and a theme to the space. A dresser is also a must-have and if room size allows, you can keep clutter to a minimum with a practical bookcase or nightstand for more storage space in the room. Other items to consider for baby include a mobile for the crib and a car seat and stroller for when you’re out and about with baby.

Nursery Furniture

Your new nursery will be a stylish, comfortable room for baby and parents that requires several key pieces.

  • Crib – The crib will be the signature piece in the room, and is more than just a temporary bed for a baby. Many kids sleep in their cribs well past baby age and longer especially if the crib coverts into a toddler bed. Also, if you plan on having more children, a well-made crib can last for several kids. Your crib needs to meet all US safety standards, and since these standards have increased over the last decade or so, you’ll be better off investing in a new crib rather than using one passed down from many years gone by.
  • Changing Table – A changing table is a must-have in the nursery and you can choose one with storage for diapers and wipes or go for a simple changing tray that sits on top of a dresser. Consider the amount of space in your nursery room when deciding among these options.
  • Nursery Chair – You’ll want to add a comfy rocking chair or swivel gliding chair that allows you to sit and rock baby to sleep, feed her, read to her or cuddle in the room. This chair should be very comfortable for you and be upholstered in easy-to-clean, kid-friendly fabric. While you may want to coordinate the chair’s color and style for the nursery, keep in mind that as a durable piece of furniture, you can move it to a different room in your home once your nursery days are over. Instead of having a chair upholstered in baby designs, you’re better off having a neutral color chair with a baby-themed throw pillow or blanket as a design accent.
  • Armoires, Dressers and Nightstands – Clutter can form faster than you’d think in a nursery thanks to baby clothes, books and toys. Fortunately, you have many storage options for your nursery to keep clutter to a minimum. Your nursery size will ultimately determine what furniture can be placed in the room. If your nursery room is small, a dresser is a good option as they have plenty of room to hold clothes, diapers and baby blankets. A nightstand is also a good option next to the nursery chair, allowing you to keep needed items like baby wipes in close range of your chair. An armoire is also perfect for larger rooms and offers ample storage for many of baby’s things including her toys.
