Buying your new mattress from the Clearance Center & Outlet at Art Van will be beneficial to you and your budget. Mattresses in the outlet are less expensive than those in the Art Van showroom, but less expensive does not mean cheap. Clearance center mattress are high quality and available in your choice of sizes and comfort levels.

Buying Guide

With so many options available, mattress shopping can be tricky but we are here to help. To enjoy the best sleep possible, your mattress should be comfortable and supportive. Simply buying a mattress because it is considered “plush” or “firm” will not be your best move. You may believe a firm mattress is too hard and would be uncomfortable but if you are a black sleeper, a firm mattress is the better option. Your body is more rigid when you sleep on your back than when sleeping on your side or stomach and this rigidity will cause your body to sink down on a soft mattress. This lack of support will result in generally restless nights. Stomach sleepers should choose a medium to medium-firm mattress and side sleepers will gain the most benefit from mattresses on the plush side.

Types of Clearance Center & Outlet Mattresses

Mattress types in the outlet include innerspring, foam and hybrid mattresses and this refers to how they are built.

  • Foam Mattresses – Foam mattresses consist of materials that create a conforming layer around your body and retaining its original shape after you leave the bed. Foam types include latex foam, gel foam and memory foam.
  • Innerspring Mattresses – These mattresses are built using a network of coils that support your body weight as you shift. Innerspring mattresses are the most common type of mattress and include pocketed coil, bonnell coil and continuous coil varieties.
  • Hybrid Mattresses – Hybrid mattresses feature a combination of foam and innerspring technology as hybrids have foam and wrapped coils. This gives you the feel of a classic innerspring system with the pressure relieving benefits of foam.

Clearance Center mattresses are also classified as either pillow top or tight top. Pillow top mattresses have additional padding at the surface of the mattress that gives the mattress its softness. Pillow top mattresses are easy to spot as they appear to have a pillow sewn on top of a regular mattress. In many cases, pillow top mattresses are innerspring mattresses, with the top helping to make the mattress more comfortable. Tight top mattresses do not have the pillowing effect but that does not mean the mattress will be harder or less comfortable than a pillow top mattress. In fact, many tight top mattresses come in plush comfort levels.
